My 2 poults are doing well. They are outside all day in a nice covered run where the crows can't get them. It's still close to freezing at night, so they are still coming in at night.

My question is: on days that it has been raining, how old do they have to be before I can put them out in wet grass? Or maybe have them outside in a drizzling rain? They have a small shelter, but, bless their little hearts, I am not convinced they are smart enough to come in out of the rain. They are adorable, but their charm isn't based upon Einstein-like brain power.

Three months in a climate where temp drops 10-20° at night. Younger poults could probably handle being wet, but wet and cold? Not worth the risk. A summer thunderstorm where the temp spikes right back up to 85° after a brief dip into the low 70°'s hasn't killed any of our poults at 8 weeks of age. However, the hens march them off into the shed when it starts blowing and the drizzle develops into a downpour (never soaked - just frowzy).
