When can we feed chicks something besides their feed?

Hello! Utter newbie here. Just wondering when it's ok to give the little chickies veggie scraps or things like that. We just got ours yesterday.

Welcome to our FUNomenal community! :frow Please just feed babies starter feed until at least a couple of weeks old. Offering them cooked yolks is a great treat, but they need grit before any other food is offered. Good luck and have lots of fun with your new fuzz babies! ❤️

Thank you! I've read a little about fermenting their food. Is it too soon for that?

Generally speaking you add greens like cabbage leaves or dried mealworms at 3-4 weeks with chic grit. Do not give them all your chicken scraps. They are too young and until adulthood you will want to limit treats to 10% of their diet. You want most of the protein to come from their chicken feed which should be a 20% medicated starter grower or starter feed so they grow normally to reach their breed weight.
