When can we tell the Gender or Blue Laced Red & Silver Laced Wyandotte?

Wyandottes can be really hard to sex early, I have two I'm struggling with! Sorry you ended up with so many roos, hope you can find them good homes.

Thank you so much @abserbean , it's all good, that's the risk you take!! They are 2 months old tomorrow.

No hubby don't want to re-home them, which we think it's hard to do :( he want's to eat them... Jacksonville, FL just allowed 300 permits for having backyard hens, so no roo's allowed.

I know, I'm in Jax too. I had a broody hatch out seven eggs for me, and at least one but probably two are roos. No way would my kids be able to eat them, so I'm going to be looking for homes in a couple of weeks. I know Standard Feed downtown will take unwanted roos to resell, so we'll see!

Oh Well Hello Neighbor, I'm in Nassau County.
What kind of chickens do you have?? Oh I didn't knew the Standard Feed store will take Roos, interesting. I will go there for the first time on Fri and pick me some Ameraucana's up that they get in that day, I'm already addicted to have chickens :). We talk with our girls about it, so we will see, once the time comes how we all going to react to them :(

We have a mixed group of birds. I have my four original hens that I got at Standard Feed almost two years ago, a RIR, a GSL, a PBR and an EE. Then we rescued a hen, a barnyard mix, most likely a cochin/ee mix, but not real sure what she is. When we couldn't integrate her into our flock, we bought her a pullet friend, a Welbar (welsummer/barred rock cross) from Eight Acres farm in Alachua. Our rescue hen is super broody, so we let her hatch out some eggs this spring, so we have seven five-week old chicks right now. Two BLRW, two Olive eggers, and three EEs. It has been an experience! Also, I'm pretty sure most of the feed stores will take unwanted roos, but I've actually spoken with them at Standard Feed to verify. I'm hoping to find them a home, so they won't have to be chicken dinner, but it's pretty hard to rehome roos. I would be okay with eating them, but my husband isn't really on board, and I'm pretty sure my daughter would go vegetarian if we tried! Good luck with your new chicks! I love all of my girls that I bought there, even though they are all hatchery quality, they are great layers and super sweet.

Well I would rather buy from someone like hubby got our Wyandottes 2 Months ago, got from but he doesn't sex them, so I'm not willing to take the risk again! And we have no clue where else to get chicks from, since we are very new to this adventure, this is our very first flock. But I already know I want more, since our Coop is so big, we got plenty of room, for a few more.
Yes it is sad that finding Roo's a new home is so hard. Hubby is all for it about making them dinner, so we are not attached to 2 of them, and we talk with our girls about it, I'm hoping I can keep 2 Roosters that we really like.
I like the FB page River City Chicks, they just featured our coop :) So proud of hubbies work.

Are these Silver Laced Wyandotte's??!?! If I look at pictures on google they look different from ours. I'm just curious :) And we assume them 2 are Hen's as well!! I hope we are right.
