My 6 Orpington bantams will be 4weeks this weekend and was wondering when can you tell pullets from cockrels? Seems like the pictures that I have seen both get red combs early on? What about waddles? I think I have two that I can start seeing the development of pink waddles and slightly pink combs.

My most friendly still looks like a pullet (I think) and has one of the least developed combs. Twisty Toes gets really excited when it sees me and wants me to pick it up.

I'd guess Cockerel...

I know cockerels tend to be more friendly but the comb isn’t as developed as some of the others.

Like this one I think might be a cockerel. It’s the biggest .. has pink already. It’s not as friendly.

But then it’s confusing because this next one has a little pink but it’s very light weight. Not like the first one.

Then the one above in the first post twisty toes is a lover and into everything.
Here is it’s face close up.

I’m just not familiar with this breed . It seems to be too early to tell. Usually I can tell with my silkies at this age.

I used to breed those to a Brahma and the thick legs have me thinking Cockerel plus the comb.

I breed Orpington Bantams. ;) The top is a cockerel and the bottom is a pullet.

Well it’s going to be interesting to find out. I try not to get too attached but it’s hard not to when one really stands out and wants to be with you:) .

The one with the messed up foot is the one I had to assist out of the shell because it’s leg was around and behind it’s head. I tried to tape the toe straight but it seems to be messed up where it attaches at the base. It can’t perch on a finger well but gets around fine.

I need to get leg bands so I can tell who is who . They all look too alike at this point.
