My polish chicks are a week old and I wanted to know when I can tell males from females. I read that you could tell from the shape of the crest, but I don't know I that is accurate. I am really hoping that my buff one is a hen.

Much too young to tell. Try again at 10 weeks.

The buff appears to be a cockerel, based on comb.

Crest sexing really needs to be done when they’re a few days old. You could try it, but it shouldn’t be relied on like one might do with autosexing breeds, it’s mostly not accurate - from what I’ve read. But it doesn’t hurt to guess. You’ll need to take pictures of the top of the crests :)
