when can you tell if a chick is going to be a roo or a hen? I have two silkie chicks and one is a day older that the other and they are almost 2 month old. I can get pics when I get home if needed

Because of the silkie feathers, instead of the standard smooth feathers, they don't look the same, so male feathers are harder to distinguish. Also, unless you have a cockerel who grows an exceptionally large comb early, that doesn't work as a way to tell either.

At this point, I'd say you have a pair, however they really are too young to tell. I never ever owned a Silkie although I've raised chicks for 8wks for a breeder. I watch the head feathering and their comb. Repost pic in another month, when their head/comb feathers are filled in.
