When chicken dies of unknown causes

If a death occurs for unknown reason, would you say it's safe to process and cook it to feed to other animals like dog, cat, hog?

I'd say yes but only if you found it quickly after death...not if it's been "sitting out" for a while.

If it just died, it would still be warm and rigor would not have set in yet.

I personally would not use it but I don't see why others shouldn't.

I know it's not worth the risk. I just hate wasting, especially animals

I wouldn't, if iy were killed by another animal and I couldn't save it in time yes i would feed it to my dogs. But if an animal dies of any unknown cuase your risking passing an infection on to other animals. The way I look at it is if I wouldn't eat it myself even in a pinch then is not safe enough for my pets. A fresh kill even by a wild animal is still a healthy chicken, but a dead chicken is a sick chicken.

Reason may be unknown to you, but there is still a reason. I wouldn't feed it to anything but the critters in the soil...a long way downwind from your chickens. Better safe than sorry.
