When chicks arrive at the post office they call?

Mine called the second they came in..around 6:30am. My home phone automatically diverts calls before 7am, so I didn't realize it until they called again around 10am. They REALLy wanted me to get them. LOL

My mail lady knows us well, so she offered to deliver them on her route about and hour later. Baby chicks right to my door!

I would recommend going into the post office and letting them know that you are expecting some chicks. That way they can have your number all ready to call for when they come in.

Doesn't hurt to get to know your mail carrier/post office staff!

That said, I have heard they don't like letting the chick sit around in the post office for very long!

I went to my PO a few days before they were due to arrive. They were quite helpful, took my info, and called me that morning about as soon as the truck delivering the chicks left, quite a while before they opened. They said they always call when chicks arrive IF the phone # is on the label, and that it is good when people tell them ahead so they have the phone # in case it's not on the box.

I would call the PO the day before they are being shipped and tell them they are coming. I told my PO to call me whenever they get there so being for warned. Mine called me at 3am and I jumped out of bed and went and got them. I didn't want them sitting at the PO any longer then they had to.

I told my PO that I was expecting an order. They called me at 5am when they arrived. The label from the hatchery had my info on it and said "Call upon arrival"

That's good to know, I too was wondering about that and I wouldn't want my chicks sitting here for any longer than necessary!

All I was expecting was hatching eggs, but we're the last stop of the day and I didn't want the eggs in the truck all day. So I baked cookies and printed several copies of my name, address and telephone number. Took it all to the PO 3 days before they were expected. They called me before they opened!

Not only that, I ship a lot and now I get lots of little bonuses, like not having to wait in line. They know I have already printed out the postage and paid from home. It really helps to get to know the USPS folks in your area!
