when did your cochins lay there first egg??

My partridge cochin was the first to lay. got her June 2009. She was approximately 32 weeks old. first egg was fertile! My black ones just started laying too- around 33 weeks.

I have 2 standard size and both started laying at 22 1/2 weeks. I got them mid Sept, so maybe getting them in the fall makes a difference? We get about 5 eggs a week from them!

That being said, the black one has been living in my bathroom for 2 weeks recovering from our first case of a prolapsed vent. Amazingly, she is totally recovered- we are just keeping her seperate for another week becuase she had tylan (so we don't eat her eggs). That's how I know they are laying almost every day

I have Bantum cochins. A couple of my girls started laying at 5 months and the rest at 6.
