Hey everyone. Just got a young Isbar breeding trio that has 1 blue roo, 1 blue pullet and 1 black pullet. Not sure on age, though based on size compared to my other Isbar hen (separate from trio) I would say they are 14ish weeks.

My question is: when do the roosters get their beautiful silver? Mine is completely blue as of now and I'm just curious. I only have ever seen pictures of blue isbar roos that have the silver hackles and saddles. Not worried at all, just curious :)

While I don't know about the coloring, or the breed...hackles, saddles and sickles can vary. Cockerels can usually start showing at least the hackles and saddles any time between about 12 and 20 weeks depending on when they start to mature (some times later) sickles, or the tail is usually last though not always.

My lavender orpington didn't even look possibly male till almost 22 weeks, but my cuckoo maran had hackles and saddles starting around 10-12 weeks. Even with his hackles and saddles I don't think my orpington started getting his gold tones until 8-9 months when a younger lavender orpington that we gave away had his gold tones by 16weeks
