when do coturnix quails start to lay their first egg, can you guys give me a few tips I am new at this and I will appreciate your help my quail are 3 weeks old

I don't have any quail but it's usually 8 to ten weeks. I'm not 100% sure of this answer but will be buying some soon so I'd like to see what others say as well.

I had one batch of standard coturnix that started at seven weeks and another batch of jumbos who just started laying at about nine weeks.

Around 6 weeks. Make sure they are getting at least 14 hours of light a day. I have two Texas A&M's that started laying at 5 weeks 2 days old. Most individual quail will start to lay at individual times.

No. Some people use the little solar garden lights in their pens in winter just to have enough light to keep them laying.
