At what age can you put the "littles" in with the big? I've had chickens for awhile, but hatched my 1st jumbo cotournix 2 weeks ago...they're outgrowing their cage quickly...but don't want to put them in with the bigs too quick!

WHEN THEY'RE GOOD AND READY AND NOT 1 SECOND SOONER

I think JJM has it. I have almost no experience with quail but the 10 A&M I got 3 weeks ago that were supposed to already be 6 weeks old still haven't laid one dang egg. I've decided that they just aren't ready for some reason. No singing that I have heard either. Dangit, I want to know who is a boy and who is a girl so I can split them accordingly.

Figured maybe they were too crowded and fixed that. Thought maybe it was diet (they're on Game Bird starter) so I broke up a bit of dry cat food and give them a bit here and there. They are in the shade, have free access to food and water and don't run out (I did let them run out a time or two at first, till I got the hang of how often they need refills). They are on 1/2 " hardware cloth with a sand tray put in there every so often just to give them some fun. Other than that, I guess I just have to keep waiting and figure that the guy was mistaken about their ages.

I wouldn't give them cat food really...if you want to supplement a bit , just give them mealworms for that added protein and fat content. They LOVE it.

One way to introduce birds is to put all in a new unrecognizable enclosure but the bird should be of all the same size (even if they are of different ages) in order to not get beaten up.

THE MORE CHANGES YOU MAKE THE LONGER YOU WILL HAVE TO WAIT AS EACH CHANGE IS A SERIOUS INFRACTION IN QUAIL LAW.... YEP, FELONY OFFENSES NO LESS... GET 'EM SETTLED THEN CHANGE NOTHING... ONCE YOUR TIME IS SERVED THEY WILL START TO LAY

Guilty as charged. Will leave the sand tray alone. They like to sit in it. No more moving things. Didn't know 'little' changes were felonies! Please don't jail me, I'm changing my ways! But not theirs!

going by sunrise and sunset it looks like you are getting slightly more then 12 hours of daylight at present you might want to up the light a little bit

Hmm. Well I haven't looked at the tables but I know the sun comes up around 6:30 and goes down around 8:30 right now. This is from observation. I am up at 5am and am outside when the chickens go to bed at sundown. We'll see, maybe you have something there. Maybe they really haven't had enough daylight for long enough yet.
