I have five ducks. (Owen,Sadie,Toot,Puddle, and Pammy:p) It is winter time (obviously) so ducks are not laying. Please let me know when the normal time comes for them to lay again.
Thanks!

P.S. I live in NC if it has
something to do with a warmth thing.:)

It's nothing to do with warmth, thankfully (or my hens would never lay!). They'll lay when they are ready- usually, when the daylight hours get to 12 hours or more. Mine have been laying throughout winter, though, (well, my chickens), so just be patient.
It will happen in it's own time!

I am so glad to hear this! I have 5 ducks and and only getting one egg a day and a few no egg days. This is their first season laying and I had thought that they lay through their first winter like hens, but seems to be not. I am in northern va and we have had below normal temps. Wasn’t sure if it was the cold or the lack of daylight, and they must not be like the hens :(

I am asking myself (and you, the duck experts) the same question. My hens are around 8 months old now and they haven't started yet. They started mating some time ago, but I have yet to find an egg. We have had wet weather with rain almost whole winter so far, and now it's warm with temperatures above freezing and with nice and cozy sunny weather. The grass started growing in parts that are turned towards south and I see that they started grazing the grass which they seldom did before. It looks like they like the taste better now that it's fresh. Day is now 9 hours and 22 minutes long. I'll see how much they need to start laying.

Oh... they seem to be gaining weight lately. I didn't see any molting, they look fresh though - they only lost a few feathers when they matured completely, nothing serious. I guess they will do it before they start laying. Or perhaps later on, who knows. I'll keep you informed when I find the egg. I joined the discussion because Murphy's law seems to say that anyone that starts asking about laying finds the first eggs in a matter of a week or so. :lau
