when do female rouens lay eggs

I checked this morning and I now have 2 eggs not sure if she will start sitting on them but I hope she does. How long will a fresh egg last if she will not sit on it? Does the embryo inside die after so long or will it just not develop?

Birds don't go broody because there's eggs in the nest. They go broody because of a chance in hormones; this can happen at anytime. I've seen birds go broody after there's been 30 eggs in the nest, and I've seen birds go broody on 1 egg.
Eggs, if kept between 0 and 15 degrees celsius (32 F and 50 F), and turned a few times daily, can last for up to four weeks before incubation, but fertility starts to drop after 10 days, severely.

The embryo doesn't start to develop until incubation starts.

Thank you I have never had any dealings with trying to hatch any eggs. This is my first and I have little to no knowledge about it.

Ok well my female is not sitting in it during the day and it has gotten down fairly low it started snowing today. She has laid two eggs and is not sitting on them during the day for sure don’t know about during the night.
She isn't broody then. A broody hen only abandons her nest for about 1/2 an hour each day.
