When do Guinea fowl start to lay eggs?

Here, we are just starting winter, but I am noticing that my 7 month old guineas, are beginning to mate, fairly frequently. Is this normal, even though they likely won't be laying eggs for a few months?

Some folks say 4 months. It depend on the type of guineafowl you have, all guinea birds look alike but differ from one another by their charastaristic's. Helmeted G usually lay after a year, while pearl, lavender, black, white usually lay around 4 to 6 months.. Other guineas may not lay until the next following spring

Here in Oz its 9 months or over before they can and will breed, very similar to what Ludwing has written

My to girls are about 14 weeks. Today I found a small egg on the roof of the little coop that didn't develope the shell yet. Is that common with young guineas?

for what I know most guineas begin to lay after a year. others may begin in two.
I've never had a hen laying between 4 to 6months.so mybe you should wait for the next spring

If they lay eggs in the wet season, how do eggs survive considering they lay them in the bush. Are the eggs waterproof ?
