When do hatcheries usually first offer chicks?

Each year I make my order for the last week of April during the first week of December.
I spend April thru December plotting which breeds it will be :)

Decisions, decisions... :)
Silver Spangled Hamburgs are pretty too :D
I was originally hooked on the laced wyandottes because I LOVE those feathers......but if I get the laced cochin I have an extra spot.....so many possibilities!

In my experience Cochins are not great layers. They are also annoyingly prone to broodiness (I am currently trying to break 3 of them). If yours are mostly pets with eggs as a side benefit that may not matter to you.

Yes, mine are mostly pets for me. I'd like a cochin because my friends have them, and they are my favorite birds in their flock to interact with. They are so cute! I will also already have three production layers (barred rocks) and would be getting an easter egger, who I know are pretty good, and would have room for another production bird.
