when do hens lay eggs?

hi everyone, I was just wondering, when do hens usually lay eggs? mine are about three months and i was wondering when i should start building nesting boxes....

Most usually start laying when they are 5-6 months old. Sometimes it is later. Also, when they start the eggs are usually smaller than the eggs they will lay later in life.
