It is certainly not cold yet, and seldom gets really cold in LA, but it is getting cooler. The windows to the coop have been wide open all summer. Am wondering how "cool" does it need to get for me to start closing the windows at night?

As long as you still have good ventilation with them closed, 40 degrees is where we start to close it up a little. We simply are making sure them are draft free below 40 degrees. Not worried about temps below that, just the draft/temp combination.

I am in Michigan and I still have coop windows open. Probably another month before i close them. It has gotten down to 30 degrees at night once or twice and is usually 40's.
