When do I get rid of extra BCM roosters?

I currently have two small flocks. My original flock is a sebright mix rooster and 3 standard hens. The newer flocks consists of eight black copper marans chicks, currently 9 or 10 weeks old, and one red sex link from the original flock who got bullied to much.

I'm pretty sure the BCM chicks are 5 females and 3 males. Everyone gets along very well, there has been no fighting between the male chicks (although one is starting to crow and another has been mounting the ladies) and they have even been free-ranging with the original flock and original rooster with no issues so far.

I think I'd like to keep one BCM rooster. But I want to pick the best one in terms of personality and breed standards. I'm also hoping to pick one that will be able to free-range with his flock side by side with my original flock without bothering the sebright mix rooster. The sebright can sometimes be a bit of a jerk to me but he is excellent to his ladies and I am attached to him, so I don't plan on getting rid of him.

At what age should I plan on culling some roosters? The BCMs seem to be pretty laid back , and I want to let them mature enough to be able to judge their personalities, but I don't want to wait too long. Thanks for any advice!

Expecting two roosters, especially a younger one to be pals with a more mature bird is asking a lot.

The mixed Sebright rooster is more apt to use your BCM cockerels for his girl friends than he is to pal around with them. At least until the BCM cockerels find their manhood or get the full measure of their testosterone.

That is why one rooster or cockerel avoids his flock mate.

Thanks. I plan on keeping the two flocks separate, but I do want to be able to free-range them together without rooster death matches. Their coops and runs are side by side. The BCM roo will end up to be at least double the sebright's size and I don't want my sebright buddy to get hurt.

I was actually surprised to see how tolerant my sebright rooster is of the chicks. For now, at least.

Maybe free range them on alternate days, if you have problems free ranging them together.
Only trying it out will show you if there's going to be a problem...
.....and choosing a BCM cockerel to keep is tough because they will behave differently with other cockerels around than they will when 'alone'.
