I have three young chickens one 3 month old and 2 two month olds. I've been feeding them the smaller pellets, when do they transfer over to the bigger pellets?

I have a grown hen that quit laying and I noticed she was eating around the pellets. I gave her layer mash and she layed again. Some dont like pellets so id watch that closely. As for when sorry I am of no help Id say when they apear to be eating it they are fine.

You need to feed starter crumbles until they are 18 weeks or older. As the previous poster said, some chickens do not like them and will actually starve themselves when changed from crumbles to pellets. Layer food of any type shouldn't be used until the chicks are ready to lay...

When it is time, I would suggest mixing the food crumbles and pellets. Or, just continue with crumbles..all of mine prefer crumbles.

So if you have a bag of pellets and don't want to waste it, can pellets be crushed, I wonder?
