my bobwhites were born on march 8th this year.i live in northern utah will they lay eggs this year or will i have to wait till next year for them to start laying?,i have seen my males mounting the females for the past 2 weeks does that mean they will?

I'd say the time is nigh.......... Should be any time now, and since the days get shorter after June 21st, some artificial lighting with a timer to give them about 16 - 17 (total) hours of light will prolly help production kick in.

they need 14 + hours of light here lately we are losing daylight just check a sunrise sunset table some birds can be caused to lay by putting them under lights other don,t care how many lights you turn on

They should start laying fairly soon. Do not expect high yields on the eggs yet. They are still young. But come next spring they will be laying like crazy and will also be more fertile.
