When do roos start to crow loudly?

It is true that my older (at end of first molt) hens are most definitely keeping my Brahma scared for his life which keeps him humble I think. He has grabbed the little E.E.s by the back of the neck which sends them screaming but when he tries that with the Brahma that is his age she gives it right back. He may become a terror but I agree it is a better chance of him being more docile with some strong and older personalities to keep him in his place.

Thank you, thank you, thank you. That is why I love this website. It is so helpful. Cupcake (aka Clyde) will be 8 weeks old on Tuesday, so I have a little time to come up with a plan. Rehoming is probably best. Can't bring myself to eat him. Not 100% sure she's a roo, but maybe 90%. Hasn't crowed since the other day, but his comb is very pronounced. Tail too. I don't need a rooster and hadn't planned for one. If we ever move to my dream hobby farm, I will most certainly grow my flock. Thanks again.
