when do roosters crow?

i was wondering at what age my rooster would start crowing. he's about 6-7 weeks right now. thanks

Not until 7 months, on average. Some will begin vocalizing sooner. Once they start, they'll never stop.

My Lakenvelder crowed at 9? 10? weeks old and my others followed several weeks after. Some cockerels try to crow at 2 weeks, some take months, like Fred's Hens said. Just depends on the hormones!

Seriously, it's very hard to say. Last spring, I had a cockerel that started at about 5 weeks. It took him a couple days, but once he got the hang of it he was very proud of himself. So, he did incessantly just to show he could.

According to Wikipedia, it's about 4 months which seems about right. You'll know ahead of time because at first they sound like party horns and are pretty funny to listen to. Once they crow, they're so proud of themselves. Then they never shut up
