When do roosters get aggressive?

Yeah, you've got something good to work with there and it just might bring out your daughter's confidence to be the jr flockmistress. Our roo issue is a gamecock and well, nature will always take it's course even though he was lovingly raised from a chick. We are the new home for a frizzle roo who's mom had to give him up. My 2 year old walks around the yard in her yellow boots with him tweeting behind her. He's a bundle of love. His mommy must have kept him as a lap kitten. Good experience for her to know that not all roos are the same. Great way for kids to learn life lessons and take on responsibility all the while benefitting from it in ways you just can't learn from a video game or school. Good luck to ya!

You know what? We have a good dynamic going on here. The hens are happy, the kids are happy. The rooster is a wildcard. Not sure I want to roll those dice right now.

We get neighborhood kids (5 years old) coming through our yard unattended and unannounced to see if my girls are out playing... Now is not the time.

Maybe in a few years when the kids are older.

So, anyone want a roo? He is a sweetie so far. 10 weeks old. And Pretty!

I'll prolly start a thread in the BST section for him in a day or so.

Wise decision, OP. Neighborhood kids can be unpredictable so better safe than sorry. You'll have some tense relationships with neighbors if one of the visiting kids was pecked for any reason. Hope you can successfully rehome him.

I'm happy to report, he found a home. A flock a few miles down the road from us just lost their rooster.

He now has nearly 20 hens of all different breeds all to himself over there. They even have one buff polish hen that looks just like his "Momma" that he was immediately very sweet to!
