When do Roosters start to get their Hackles and Saddle feathers in?

Hi,

I am trying to determine which of my birds are roosters. Does anyone know what age most roosters start to get the hackle feathers and saddle feathers in?

mine started to get saddle feathers as soon as it grew out from fluff to well feathers so i say maybe a month and a half. i believe im not for certain

Renee, after abot 8 weeks you`ll start to see some pinkish color on the roos faces. The pullets comb and wattles will be smaller and stay yellowish until just before they start to lay.......Pop

I purchased 1 day old chicks that were supposed to be Dominique breed. However, found out later that the seller also ran Golden comets in with his Hens while he was gathering the eggs to hatch. OK with that being said I am totally ok with that since I have a barn yard mix. Now my question is I have 3 That I am sure are Roos. Bright yellow legs, Red comb, Red Waddles, and lighter in color. Now My question is.. I have 4 little Dark pullets that I know are Pullets. Ny other little one from this same hatch have the body, head, and dull comb with very little waddle showing, and their legs are a very light colored and not as blocky as the ones I know are Roosters. But they are a very light colored like the young Roo I have. Since these guys and galse could very well be crossed with a comet, could they be hens just lighter in color. Ill get Pictures later.
