I found a soft egg in one of the nest boxes in the coop I use for my chickens other than the Faverolles, they have a separate house in which the nest boxes have been blocked off. They were hatched on Feb. 16 so I would think it would be too early for them to start laying, but I had one too many eggs in the other coop last night when I gathered eggs. They should be about 15 weeks.

Has anyone had SFs that lay this early?

Thanks, I think it is time to open up some of the nest boxes for them. I just received 6 baby SF chicks, part of an earlier order that had not been completed. I have two Buff Orphintons that finally went broody. The first hatched 7 chicks about two weeks ago, then her sister went broody and should hatch in a couple of weeks or less. I am going to have chicks everywhere!

Forgot to say, I just hatched 10 mixed breed chicks last week! Whew! Now if I could get my goose to sit on her nest. She must had laid 40 eggs over the past few months. I incubated some with success, and plan to start a few more today. They are so much fun when they are goslings.
