I have a few silkies that I was going to start breeding with, and was wondering how long it takes for them to start laying. They are about 12 weeks old.

they are a slower maturing breed roosters can start anywhere from a few days to a few months from now, and your girls should start laying from 2 months from now to 5 months from now, they take their own time but they will start before fall.

Mine started to lay around six months. For your 12 week olds, crowing could start tomorrow or begin in a couple of months. Most of my roosters started to crow between 4 and 5 months of age.

Ok. Thank you very much. Hopefully soon I will get some eggs or some crowing! :P
