When do silkies start laying?

I have 2 silkie hens that were born in June. Should they be laying yet? I have a brown leghorn that's about 2 weeks younger than my silkies and she's already laying. Will the silkies be ready to go broody in the Spring?

6 to 8 months, sometimes longer. I wouldn't worry just yet.
