If your crumbles are too big, put the chick food in a baking tray and use a rolling pin, rolling it lightly to make finer crumbs.

Blender works too. Here in Hawaii it can be hard to get game bird starter, so I usually add a few raw peanuts to the mix for protein.

They also won't need grit if you're only feeding them the gamebird starter.

Yeah, you need to get someone to watch them for you and make sure they have some serious directions.

They usually hatch around day 18. But that’s not your main issue. The main issue is that they need to be shown how to drink water and eat food. Those first 2 days, they are really not smart and in my experience, they are always trying to drop dead for no reason.

Tell whoever watches them to dip their beaks in water and then food several times a day.

The heat part, I’m sure you know.

This is not true. I have never had to teach a quail how to eat or drink.

I typically show the 1st one in the brooder and the rest figure out by watching. Would never leave with eggs hatching.

I can't feed them gamebird chick starter with grit? that's what I did with my first chicks and thy are very healthy

Do you know how much protein it has? The Gamebird starter I have is 28% protein.
