When do they lay everyday

This is my first post/first time raising chickens so any help would be really really appreciated.

I was under the impression that chickens lay every 25 hours. so approximately every day. I have 3 hens and they just started laying.

The first day they laid 3 eggs
the next day: none.
the next day: one
over the last week I either found no eggs or only one.

My question is this: When do hens start laying every day? about how long after they lay their first egg will they be laying every day?

also. could it be that a snake would eat an egg? I went into a the coop yesterday and there was a big fat snake in the coop.

Not all hens lay every day. Breed and genetic line has a lot to do with their productivity, their environment, age and diet affects it as well. Because they just started laying it can be intermittent for some time until they come into full production, so just because they don't lay every day now doesn't mean they never will, but do know that is a possibility. What breed hens do you have?

They're Speckled Sussex hens.

There are exceptions to the rule, but Speckled Sussex tend to be moderate egg layers. Every other day is more likely for them.

Chickens are not the biological machines many have been led to believe they are, and will never lay every 25 or so hours everyday. They are individuals and their cycles will be individual. If you expect different you will be disappointed, especially if they are kept in somewhat normal conditions i.e. not in cages with special lighting and no variation in food or environment, etc...

But they more than make up for their instability with the quality of the eggs and the entertainment value.

What everyone else said and catch that snake, free loader.I have a bo hen will lay 2 or 3 eggs then have day off your hen will probably do similar patience
