Mine divide into small subflocks at 4-5 months old when they are out free ranging, never usually just pairs. As far as pairing up for breeding season goes, it's usually the following spring after they've been hatched... and it's rarely pairs, it's more like little harems, 3 Hens to one male, with a tag a long male or 2 lurking in the back ground waiting for a chance to sneak in a secret breeding if the Alpha male is not paying attention.
