Got a couple of girls that sound like they're trying to get their grown-up voices. When they call out for their flockmates, it sounds sort of like a much deeper and somewhat raspy chirp at a much slower pace. They're a little over 8 weeks old. Does sound like the right timeframe for them to go through "puberty" and their voice to change?

My girls stopped cheeping at around that time, and I think they got their full adult voices at around 10 to 12 weeks.

I know what you mean about the voice change. It sounded like I had a bunch of dying crows in my back yard!

I'm already noticing it in my 5 week old EE's. EE's already have an unusual adult voice, and I'm beginning to hear that sounds now. Maybe EE's mature faster as far as the voice change goes? Cause they're not peeping anymore. It's a weird little hawk like sound they make now.

My 8 week old Ameraucanas are occasionally clucking. So are my 4-5 week old Cornish crosses and other older chicks.

I swear I heard the sex-link roos try to crow.
