When do they start laying?

I've heard some people say its six months, and then I've heard other people say 20 weeks! So which is it?! Because my girls are approaching six months, and I still see no eggs!

I have barred rock, RIR.s New Hampshire reds, Jersey Giants, White rocks, and Austrolorps and the only ones not laying right now are the Austrolorps, the others started at 20 weeks..

Mine just started laying at 19 weeks and 5 days...... The EE first and then a Black Australorp

I have a variety of birds... Figure on 22 to 24 weeks and all the girls should be doing there thing. Enjoy!

I have RIRs, EEs, and BOs... So I guess the question now is, why aren't they laying?!

Do they all crow...lol You could put some ceramic or wooden eggs in there nest box, I did that one time when mine slowed down and they started laying like crazy. It was funny, must be the shape? they were freaking out. Maybe hang a light so there getting 15-16hrs of light. They'll start soon.

I have four birds. The sex link laid first at 16 weeks.
One of the two RIR started at 18 weeks.
The other RIR and BR still have not laid.
It's now just over 19 weeks.

I have had plastic toy eggs in their boxes since they were in the coop.. They have been kicking them out of the boxes lately though... Perhaps that's a sign?
