When do you first hear the chicks 'peeping' before the hatch?

Hi! Do you hear the chicks peeping in the bator the day they hatch or before? My last hatch, I heard one about 5 hours before it hatched. But it was the only one that hatched. I had a horrible hatch last time. Right now, I am going on day 21 with silkie and bantam cochins and I was wondering if I should be hearing them in the bator yet? I don't hear a thing yet?

Sometimes I hear them and sometimes I don't. I have heard them 2 days before hatch and then I have heard nothing and woken up to 4 birds hatched out!

I hear them the day before hatch. It will depend though on how loud your incubator is.

Today is day 21 for me. I have silkies and bantam cochins in there. I do have a pc fan in the bator, but it is not too loud. I keep listening and I can't hear a thing. Last hatch I heard one of them hours before hatch. That's the only one I heard, but that's the only one that hatched. My temp did drop to 97. for up to 8 hours on day 19 so maybe they will hatch a day late?

I usually don't hear them at least until someone has pipped. Sometimes I don't hear anything until after they've hatched. Depends if you've got a noisy batch in there or a quiet one.

I was just in there listening and I think I heard a very faint 'cheep cheep' in there! yay!

I had to stand there for over 20 min before I heard a thing and I had to be very quiet because it was soooo quiet. Then I didn't hear anything for awhile again. Maybe your just missing it when they do make a noise. Hope you hear them soon

I didnt hear mine peeping until i picked one up thinking they would never hatch.. (day 22 with no rolling or anything! so i pretty much gave up..) But then when i heard peeping from 2 of the eggs i quickly shut the bator and bumped up the humidity sence i had opened it..
2 chicks out now and no problems so far.. !!!

P.S. i didnt hear anything at all day 21.. so dont worrie.. they may be a little late
