When do you introduce proper bedding.

From what I've read, day 3 seems to be when most recommend to switch from paper towels to proper bedding.
It's day 3 and I just tossed a handful of straw into my brooder. The girls went crazy. They're scratching around and faux dust bathing in it.
They never bothered trying to scratch around on the paper towels, but they're acting so grown up in the straw.

When do you introduce bedding, and what kind do you use?


My babies....they're growing up so fast.

I put mine in pine shavings when I brought them home from the store at 1 and 2 days old. They were already in shavings there.

I've always used shavings from day one and never had a splay leg or any other issues.
