We are getting 7 baby chicks next week.
I know a lot of people feed their chicks asst table scraps for treats.
I have two young boys.. I throw out a lot of bread crusts, and other stuff they leave on their plates. When is it appropriate to give it to the chicks?

I don't begin feeding my chicks food other than starter until they're 3 weeks old. YOu can do it a tad sooner, but I feel like it's good to get them to know what their regular food is, and get to eating it well each day before I introduce different treats. However, the treats you begin with must be soft...like yogurt, unsweetened applesauce....mashed up banana or watermelon...and VERY small amounts. Things such as bread crusts and other people food items really shouldn't be given until they're older. And, when you DO, you need to provide chick grit for them. Have fun with your new little ones!
