Hi folks,

For those with open hardware cloth sided set ups, what tempurature is the wind/breeze no longer an issue? Trying to figure out when I can take the plastic tarps off the side of my coop.

I already have the plastic folded back a bit for some fresh air at the front since they roost in the back.

Heres what I'm looking at temp wise towards the end of this month.

I could also potentially take the plastic tarps off both sides and then just put up smaller plastic barriers just next to where the roosts are if it's a concern while they're sleeping. Just curious if I should wait until April to do it. But I would like to get it off sooner rather than later I really don't want it encased in plastic when rain season starts for humidity reasons and because I use the greenhouse effect to warm up the coop in the winter on sunny days when it's 40° outside, inside the coop will easily hit 65° for the warmest part of the day so I would like to get the plastic off before the daytime temps are consistently at 50 but these night time temps still worry me a little bit.

Thanks all!

Your weather looks similar to ours. I generally start to take panels off our run when I routinely stays above 50 degrees. I usually do sections at a time. You could start by removing some on the side where the winds don't generally blow. We occasionally get snow storms into April, so I try to be cautious so I don't feel like I have to put them back up.

Daytime? or do you wait till nighttime temps are consistently 50 too? Also sounds like a good plan! A section at a time is what I was thinking too, and same although I'm hoping no april snow this year since its been snowing and sub freezing non stop since thanksgiving 😂 its been a long rough winter this year for sure haha

Here I go by daytime temps because they only go out in the run during the day. I have let them go longer. Generally when it's getting too warm inside the run it's time to start removing them. Every year is different.
