when does a broody hen pluck her feathers

hi i have a broody hen and its day three of her being broody and im going to give her the eggs i want to hatch tomorrow and im wondering when they pluck there feathers. thanks

I don't believe that they do pluck their feathers. I've seen ducks of all sorts do it. I've never seen a hen do it, and I read somewhere that the combination of pressure and heat made the feathers fall out gradually. This fits very well with what I have personally observed. My hens do not line their nests.

My Cochin always plucks herself. I think it depends on the bird.
