when does a Roo get their permanent feather color ?

As per subject, when does a roo get their permanent feather color ?

I have a black bantam roo. He is around 3 months old now, and he has all black feather which I really like because usually a roo is colorful (with the exception of ayam cemani and very few other breed).

Do you think my roo already have his permanent color ? Thanks

His coloring will change a bit. Breeders say to not make final decisions based on feather color until a bird has completed molt into adult plumage at 18 months.

In my experience, if they're going to get leakage of other colors, it will happen by 6 months or so. your guy isn't grown up yet, he could still have some color change. Or, he could stay pure black, you'll just have to see.
