So my 5 hens started laying about two weeks ago and I’ve been getting 2-4 eggs daily. Mostly 2 and sometimes three and once I got 4. How long after they start laying would they producing regularly? When should I expect steady 4 egg days? I have lots of friends and family asking for home laid eggs! :D

Just for kicks I think I got my first double yolk the other day.

Most breeds around 250-270 eggs per pullet year. That is roughly 2 out of 3 days on an annual average, so your 5 bird flock may average between 3 and 4 eggs a day. This being June, with maximum hours of sunlight in North America, you'll find laying to be very, very good right through until October when the lack of light catches up with them a bit. Still, first year pullets will often lay right through, fairly consistently, their first winter.

Beginning pullets take a week or two to hit their stride. 5 layers will be pressed to meet all the demand if you have a lot of folks asking!!!
