Hello, I have a problem with my mandarins and it is started to really concern me and I would really appreciate any advise you could offer. I'll try my best to keep this brief.

A couple months ago at a poultry show we bought several call ducks and 2 white mandarins and a standard mandie. The whites we were told were a breeding pair, however neither looks like a male, and neither make sounds like the standard that is clearly a male. Currently due to lake of additional pens, we have all the calls and the mandies in the same pen, we do have a ground duck house and a raised mandie house.

This is a pic from a few weeks ago of the mandies looking just fine. They also have a kiddie pool now instead of the black tub.

Over the past 3-4 weeks the white Mandie that I know is a girl has been getting rubbing marks on her sides I'll call it. I see the standard male mandie lovingly num her there sometimes, but he seems gentle about it. The other white mandie, we not sure if a girl or boy, does occationally attack the girl sometimes yanking feathers on her bum, sometimes on her neck, and not so much in a trying to do it with her kinda way. However I have seen the white mandie do it with her, and it does appear he is successfully doing it. But Im told it is possible that the girl is trying to show dominance over the one I know is a girl, thats why she is doing her. Sorry if this is really confusing.

I was locking the mandies and calls in the same house at night. But since the girl mandie has started laying I no longer lock the mandies up at night, just the calls. I was thinking that perhaps the marks were from the standard madie numming her to heard her away from the other white mandie, I've seen him do that, but he does seem gentle when he does it. I was hoping that when I stopped locking the mandies in the house that the marks would get better, but they have not. The above pics were from last week, and today her right side is more raw then before and a little bloody, I couldnt get a better pic today. But now I'm very concerned.

We have blue kote but I hate to bother the girl during breeding time and we would have to catch her all the time, that would not go well. Has anyone seen this before? Is it just from breeding? Please help.

Maybe it is the calls.

Its probably because there in a small pen so they are more aggressive towards each other but i don't know. The same thing happened to me a while ago my Mallard drake kept attacking my wood duck drake soo i had to get rid of the Mallard drake.
