When I get my 'bator.....

At first, I didn't understand all the posts about the evil chicks, especially the silkies. NOW I know....Like I don't have enough to do with 5 kids, a DH, and a full-time job! UUGGHH!!!
Where's the best place to buy a bator???

Think I will go ahead and build a hatcher....have two using as 'bators.....oooohhhh....I am in trouble!

Isn't is awesome! I just got 2 bators also...and truth be known I am working on getting 3rd one. lol I only have 5 quaill eggs in the 1588 Hova-bator (can fit 120 quail eggs)...and already am seeing the need for more "future" room. What is I get a good deal on eggs...like 11 dozen eggs...lol...see....I need one more just in case

You better not leave me as the only one hatching over the winter, insisting to hubby that each and every hatch is a necessary one!

41 eggs fit in a LG!! I know!!! I started out with one and no turner, then I had to get a turner, then I needed another for a brooder. Then another because I had some more eggs I just HAD to hatch. Then the other day i was at an auction and just could not pass up 2 and 2 turners for 47 bucks! and Saturday i am picking up another one for an extra brooder. So final count is 6 bators, 4 turners. I think I have the OCD disease

I am trying to convince myself that 24 eggs is enough for my first hatch...six silkie, 18 standard breeds LOLOL....I can put the silkies in one bator, the standards in another!


I have a styrofoam cooler here just begging to be turned into a hatcher!!

Oh yeah! And on top of those 6 bators, 4 turners, I have 5 brooders, ok 6 brooders. Most are made out of rubbermaid containers that I cut the top piece out of and put a heat lamp over the top with a cage like contraption, so it hangs above the lid. YES you read it correctly 5 brooders. 2 are like 4' long and 1' wide and 2 are 2' long by 1' wide and one is a little shoe box size for the newbies after they are all dried off and fluffy butted! the last one is a big round cattle watering trough about 6' across and 2' tall that one is for the little guys as they trapse outside into the new world to get acclaimated to the outside world. They have a heat lamp in case the temp drops too low but there ya go.
