When is a dog full sized

As far as food, I have always been told to feed puppy food for at least the first year and for large dogs to continue with puppy food until 1.5yrs.

See, my vet just told me to switch my giant Pyr to adult food at 1 yr. because if he keeps eating puppy food he'll get joint issues. She doesn't want him getting too many calories and outgrowing his joints. He doesn't eat a whole lot of food in general, though.

Guess it's just like anything else then, everyone has different opinions and different reasons for supporting them, lol. Like when you see two different doctors for the same problem and they totally contradict each other...

Hi,

You have a smaller breed of dog. Your puppy will reach its full height around 9 months-sometimes 6. What will change over the course of the next year is the width-spring of rib/bone and muscle mass as the dog matures. So although your puppy may not get taller he will "fill out" till about 2 years of age.

Enjoy!!!
