When is it safe to let them free range?

I am about to move house and I am taking my much loved Japanese Bantams with me.

When I move to the new house how soon can I let my chickens out to free range in the new area?

I am worried they will be scared and confused with the new place and wander away!!!

How long do I have to keep them in their cages before I let them out?

In my current house they free range all day, and at night they sleep in cages to protect them from the local pythons... I live in Thailand.

I don't want them to panic and fly off!!!!
