I tried to seed start in pots indoors but they all died except my sunflowers. When can I seed star tomatoes and peppers in the garden? I also want to seed start peppermint, catnip, bee balm and a sunflower shrub.

You can probably start planting them about now. Usually they say a good time to plant is after May 5th. The nights are still a bit cold, but you aren't going to get any more frost so you should be safe to sow the seeds. We usually do it about this time and we've always had luck. Just don't forget to water!

The only thing's I've planted so far are peas and brussel sprouts. I just think it's a lil early this year to plant. I'm in NorthWest NJ, and the nights are still in the 30's.

Steve - in your area you should wait til the 3rd week of May to plant outdoors and listen for the weather for any frost warnings. Good luck!

ETA - goofed up on some words.
