Help! For the second time in two days I have had an incubator catastrophe. I have one hatched chick (from this morning) and 4 more that are hatching. The temp and humidity have been perfect all day, but after we had to move the incubator a short distance, the humidity skyrocketed and the temp plummeted. The humidity is over 80 still, and the temp is finally back up to 88 and climbing. I think I fixed the heating element (which meant opening it). I have moved the hatched chick to a warmed box and put the hatching ones in my other incubator with the day 13 eggs. I want to put them back into theirs asap. Will humidity over 80 hurt them (silkies still need to hatch)?
5 mins later now - I put all back in there (including the hatched chick). Temp is now 93 and humidity about 76 and dropping. I was told humidity should not be over 60 for hatching silkies. is this true? Because my Polish Tolbunts hatched/are hatching first and the others are still just wobbly.
