I was butchering with an experienced friend when we opened the gut cavity about 2 cups of water gushed out, the meat looks ok ... has anyone ever had this before? is it still safe to eat? What could have caused this??

  3. Ascites is the round, distended belly you see on alcoholic human, the belly is filled with water from "damming up" or "backup" of circulation through a tough, failed liver. It is not unusual for us to "tap" a grossly ascitic gentleman's belly and release 4 to 10 Litres over the course of a week in the hospital.
