When shipping goes wrong...a sad story...happy ending!!

So, how many actually made it? And what is to become of the replacement chicks that Estes sent you? Or did the order actually go out before you found the chicks of the original order?

I can so completely empathize with you at the frustration of people who don't do their job right! Long ago I used to manage a tropical fish import business in Olympia, Washington. I could tell you stories of fidiot carriers that would curl your hair.

How hard it is to understand the writing on the outside of the box that says LIVE FISH!!KEEP WARM!! in big bold red underlined letters? How hard is it to read the instruction sheets that came with the shipping information that says, top and bottom of the form, in big bold letters LIVE FISH!! KEEP WARM!!. I suppose it would not be hard at all provided you could READ!!!

To err is human. To really mess things up, sometimes you have to work in the shipping business!

Glad to hear that not all of the chicks were lost. I hope they'll be ok now that they are in much more responsible and knowledgeable hands! Good luck and let us know how they do. Something tells me that you may yet lose a few more of them. They're not out of the woods yet.

I called Estes back and had them cancel the replacement order, and they said to let them know how things look in a few days...then I ordered another 25 chicks which were here this morning.

I know...bonkers. Raving, barking, hair-pulling bonkers! I can't help myself!!

I am glad they arrived and most were fine.

I agree with the posters that said this is not a good time of year to ship chicks and expect them to arrive alive. The fact that any do is nothing short of a miracle.
