when should i buthcher my cornish x

they are almost 9 weeks old and was wondering when i should butcher them. the hens are much bigger than the roos is this normal? thanx

We are going to butcher our bigger ones at 8 weeks and probably wait another week or so on the smaller ones. They are almost 7 weeks now and I weighed one of the bigger ones last night and it was right at 6lbs. Hope they gain a little bit more this next week.

My roo's are larger then most of my hens. When they get to the size you want, harvest them. There isnt any rule regarding size.

At 8 weeks we did our larger ones. The live weight ran 8-9lbs. The smaller ones were around 6 so we waited til weeks 10 & 11 to do those.

thanx everyone there is only one smaller one the others are pretty close to the same size the smaller one is probably about 6.5 7 pounds is he big enough

They say if you subtract 1/3 off of standing weight you will have close to your dressed weight.

well i butchered them they got to big and my rirs were starting to kill them they were all big enough not doing that again though

How did everything go with your processing? Had you done it before?

it went good just took like 8 hours because i had never done it
