When should I check for eggs?

I have 3- 7-month-old Emden geese. I suspect only one is female because its smaller than other two. Yesterday I watched the largest gander trying to mate with the female and started to wrestle with the other male. I thought mating season wasn't until March. Am I wrong? Should I be on the lookout for eggs now?

So, it snowed for the first time this Fall in Wyoming on Sunday. Went out to the Little Goose Coupe this morning to find a nest made and one egg in it. A pleasant surprise for a mid-Fall morning.
Another surprise was the goose on the nest was not the small goose but the middle sized goose that I thought was a male. Do male geese sit on the nest too or do I have 2 females and 1 male?

I also have 3 geese, two female and one male. This is the second season for eggs and I have never seen him on the nest. By the way he is a cross White Chinese/African and the girls are African. We have had him for 21/2 years and the girls for nearly 2 years. He is agressive when they are laying and it is worse this year than last year. I was hoping it wouldn't be so bad since we have had him for his whole adult life. Oh well!
